Global Partnerships Project
Ukuni Primary School, Tanzania
As part of a Global Partnerships project linked with our Multi Academy Trust, Cropwell Bishop Primary School are now in partnership with Ukuni Primary School in Tanzania! Mr Lee and Class 3 have started the link between the schools by working on a project called Stories of a Lifetime. This involves the children creating a multimedia presentation of a story using Ipads. We chose a story linked to English myths and legends, The Sword in the Stone. The children in Class 3 have produced artwork of characters and backdrops for scenes. They have also produced storyboards and story scripts and all of this before we started using the Ipad! The final result is a fantastic animation with the children’s drawings and the children recorded reading sections of the story. Now the story project has been completed in school our animated story will be uploaded onto the Stories of a Lifetime website along with other schools’ stories within our MAT. These will join stories from around the world that are already available to read and use as a valuable classroom resource to gain an insight into different countries cultures and traditions through story telling.
The next phase of the project builds on the links we have with our school in Tanzania. Mr Lee will be travelling to Tanzania on Wednesday this week, taking our story project with him. He will be working with the staff and children of Ukuni Primary School on the story of a lifetime project, first showing the story from Cropwell Bishop produced by Class 3 and then working on a story from Tanzania! Mr Lee will then bring the recorded story back to show the staff and children here at Cropwell Bishop which will then link into projects across the whole school. The final phase of the project for this year will be a visit by the teachers from Ukuni Primary School in the summer term!
