Monday 20th April 2020 Year 1 Home Learning Menu – Week 3
I hope that you had a lovely Easter break and were able to enjoy the sunshine. I have been thinking about you all whilst tidying my garden and planting seeds.
Now that we are in the Summer term our topic is ‘All about Plants’. Here are a few helpful notes to support the Week 3 Home Learning Menu.
Reading, phonics, high frequency words and handwriting daily practise as before.
It will be Saint George’s Day on Thursday 23rd April so try to find out as much as possible about the history and traditions that are connected with this day. Saint George is the patron Saint of England. There is information on the ‘Twinkl’ website. Write a short report about what you have found out.
Maths – Complete all the ‘telling the time’ worksheets. (if you have done this already please practise telling the time on your clocks around your home). Online time telling games – ‘topmarks’ ‘ICTgames’ ‘bbcbitesize’
- Money ‘recognising coins’ (use real coins to help you if possible) again online games – ‘topmarks’ ‘ICTgames’ ‘bbcbitesize’ help you to practise.
Science – Over the next few weeks we will be learning about all sorts of plants, the parts of plants, how they grow, which plants we can grow for food as well as looking at amazing plants. If you can do so safely - go on a plant hunt (wild and garden plants and trees) – draw and name as many different plants as possible (if you want to you could photograph the plants you find).
Gardening – if you are able to - sow some seeds (it doesn’t matter what sort) or watch a plant growing in your garden. Make a plant diary of what happens to your seeds/ plant every week. Don’t forget to water them!
As from Monday 20th April the ‘BBCbitesize’ website has daily lessons for all ages on a variety of subjects. Have a look at this website and see what you would like to learn about! I will take a look at this website too!
French - At school we have been starting to learn some basic French phrases and numbers. I am attaching some resources to help you continue to practise your French at home. There are some useful websites too … ‘BBCbitesize’ ‘Twinkl’ You could make a NHS rainbow and label the colours in French.
Well done all of you who took part in our Easter reading challenge, Easter decorated eggs, bonnets etc… They all looked great. This week there is a VE poster completion on the school website so have fun with that.
I hope that you have a great week and enjoy learning at home.
